Berry has long been one of those breathtakingly picturesque little towns that I’ve driven through on my way to someone else’s wedding all the while vowing that, one day, I’d come back and make a weekend of it.

Berry must have had an inkling about this; she was worth the wait.

Finding the perfect home away from home is no mean feat but I was delighted to stumble upon the romantic, secluded, beautifully styled and pet friendly Tathra Cottage. With 360 degree views of nothing but tree tops, you feel like you’re hiding in a 1950’s inspired cubby house.

Now, I’m told that visiting Berry without dropping in to the Sourdough Bakery is a bit like reading Playboy for the articles or ordering the garden salad at a steak house… so that happened. Now, ordinarily, bread that good would have been enough… but this was Berry… so I was clearly morally obligated to make a cheese platter.

The other thing that Berry does extremely well is furniture and homewares. Being an avid fan of both new and antique cutlery, crockery and glassware, I came to play. I fell in love with a wall of cuckoo clocks and attempted to purchase pretty much everything from The Picnic Shed… but the crowning glory for me was a tiny little antique glass serving jug that I just fell in love with.

I returned home relaxed, inspired and just a little bit proud of my talent for fitting a truckload of homewares into an ordinary sized hatchback.
